The Light of Christ Anglican Church began in 2004 under the leadership of the Anglican Mission in Canada meeting in homes for worship and fellowship with emphasis on orthodox biblical faith. In early 2006, our first Rector was called, The Rev. Kathy J. King. The church feels called to provide a strong, biblical witness of love and service to the city of Nanaimo. Visitors are warmly welcomed into a Spirit filled, family oriented community of worship and faith.
More recently, Light of Christ Anglican Church has been blessed to welcome Rev. Francis Awando as our rector. Francis Awando and his wife Georgia Omwa have one son (Timothy) and each recently supported young people with Inner Hope Youth Ministries in their work as house parents while also participating in and ministering with Richmond Emmanuel Church.
Francis serves as the administrator for the Anglican Mission in Canada and has a wealth of ministry experience, theological training and an MBA in Strategic Management from University of Nairobi, Kenya, and is currently pursuing Masters level theological studies at Regent College in Vancouver while serving The Light of Christ Church family in Nanaimo.

'The Light of Christ Anglican Church exists to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, building God's Kingdom by faithfully worshiping the Lord through Scripture, Sacrament, and Spirit; witnessing to others in the power of God's love; welcoming all into authentic, life-giving community; working to serve others; and walking in an ever deepening relationship with Jesus'.
